Z-Spray JR 36” Intake Repair

A customer dropped off a Z-Spray JR 36″ for an intake repair, as the pump pressure on their machine was having issues. The customer explained they went through three pump replacements but the pressure was still lower than it needed to be. Our mechanics assured the customer that they would get to the bottom of the issue. Our mechanics checked the wiring connections, tightened battery terminals and checked engine oil levels. None of these seemed to be causing the low pump pressure.   The mechanics ran the engine and monitored the voltage which was 13.6 volts. While deadheaded, or running with no fluids, the pump was only making a maximum of 25 PSI in terms of pressure. There was no pressure when the sprayers were on or when the bypass was open.

Debris In The Z-Spray JR Suction Line

After running the engine and monitoring voltage and pump pressure our mechanics decided to take a new route to finding the root of the issue. Our mechanic removed the hoses and strainer from the suction side of the pump,  which proved to be the answer to the issue. Green plastic pieces were stuck in the suction hose at the bulkhead fitting. Our mechanics got to work removing the pieces from the suction hose. They found that when the hoses and strainer are temporarily reconnected to the suction hose, the machine works fine. With this, our mechanics can correlate the low pressure with the debris in the suction hose. During the removal of the debris, the bulkhead fitting was damaged, so a replacement was quickly ordered.

We reached out to the customer via the client portal,  and let him know about the diagnosis. When explaining the removal, he was told  that the bulkhead fitting was damaged. Our mechanics assured him that a new replacement was on its way! We told him we would notify him once the fitting was replaced and his Z-Spray Jr 36″ was ready to be picked up.
