Stihl TS 800 Saw with Geismar Attachment

We’ll fix up your mowers and small engines, and provide some insider knowledge to ensure your tools never skip a beat! One of our customers brought in a Stihl TS 800 Saw with a Geismar attachment. This specific type of saw is commonly used on railroads. Our mechanics checked the fuel which looked good however, the spark plug and air filter were missing. We informed the customer via the client portal and, with their approval, installed a new spark plug and air filter. Our mechanics test ran the saw and noticed it ran erratic and wasn’t idling well. With some further investigation our mechanics found the impulse line, which transmits pressure signals, was off of the impulse nipple. Again, the customer was notified via the client portal and kept up to speed on the issues and replacements. This issue was quickly fixed by replacing the impulse line.

Stihl TS 800 Saw Shroud Replacement

Even with the above replacements, the saw was still not running smoothly. The mechanics found that it was not throttling up when restarted. After spending some time diagnosing, the mechanics found that the carburetor needed replacement as well as the clutch which was dragging. It was also found that the tensioner nut and shroud, two important components of the saw, needed replacement. We spoke to the client who told us that they had shrouds at the shop. He notified us that someone would drop them off. As a proactive measure, our mechanics also sent over the shroud part number incase parts needed to be ordered directly from Geismar. This part number is noted in the clients account. After a couple hours our mechanic got this saw running good as new again. The customer was notified that their restored Stihl TS 800 Saw with a Geismar attachment was ready for pickup!
