Scag Deck Belt and Spindle Replacement

Having mower issues is never fun! One of our customers dropped off their mower and told us it was giving them issues while cutting. Upon talking with them further, they were able to tell us it felt like the deck belt was slipping, as the blades would sometimes slow down, and upon engaging them it felt different. We asked if there were any other signs, like vibrations or noises. The client informed us there was a slight vibration coming from the mower.

One of our mechanics pulled the mower into the shop to see if we could see anything obvious. After a careful inspection it was clear the belt was loose, and there was play in the right spindle. This explains why the blades were slowing down at times and giving the client the “weird” feeling while cutting. Our technician advised the customer that they would need a spindle and deck belt replacement.

New Deck Belt & Spindle

The client received the estimate via our online Ignition Lawn Mower & Small Engine portal, and quickly approved it. Our staff quickly ordered the parts, and they came in the very next day. Once the parts were in our hands, our mechanic quickly got started on removing the worn spindle and belt. Shortly after, the new spindle and deck belt was installed. All the spindles were greased, and bolts were checked to make sure they were all tight. Our mechanic than took the mower outside for a test run. The mower was cutting perfectly and was back to new!

Our office emailed over the bill, and our client was able to pay online before they even arrived. Once they came to pick up their mower, our technician showed them the repairs, explained what signs to look out for in the future, and the client was thrilled to be able to get their piece of equipment back so quickly!
